All About 410 Wing

410 (William Barker VC) Wing of the Air Force Association of Canada was first chartered on the 19th of October of 1949. Since then we have been upholding the aims and fulfilling the goals of the AFAC here in Ottawa. While the 410 Wing is only one of the 75 odd wings across Canada and the USA, it has a long and distinguished history.

On July 1st of 1994, and with great pride, the wing changed its name to honour the memory of World War I flying ace, William Barker VC. This is an individual whom every Canadian can look to and call a hero. As an aviation oriented organization we especially appreciate the deeds of such a great Canadian. We have included a biography of this great man, courtesy of Miles Constable.

Our organization depends on the active participation of it's members as a means of success. Many members over the years have volunteered their time, in small and big ways, to further the goals of the wing. Currently, the wing is guided by the decisions of our Board of Directors and Executive Council, known collectively as the Wing Executive. These 14 individuals fill 15 different positions that cover the spectrum of our operations. A list of these executives and their respective duties has been included.

Having mentioned those that make a large donation to the general operation of the wing, it is now for us to mention those others that make contributions. Every member of the Air Force Association contributes to furthering its goals. Every member of a wing not only helps the Association achieve it's goals, but also helps his host wing attain it's own goals in the community. 410 Wing currently has around 500 members. The Air Force Association of Canada is ruled by it's Constitution and By-Laws. These are the documents that rule the day to day operation of the Association on the national, regional, and local levels. They also specify the goals and mission of the Association.
